To align SLAs with sustainability goals, organizations must ensure their cloud resources match actual demand while minimizing waste. Below is an example of a Sustainability SLA Policy that incorporates these principles:

Scope:
This policy applies to all cloud services and resources within the organization’s infrastructure. It aims to maintain an optimal balance between performance requirements and energy consumption across all deployments.

SLA Objectives:
• Define clear SLAs that include sustainability metrics (e.g., resource utilization targets, energy consumption benchmarks).
• Ensure that performance requirements are met without over-provisioning.
• Establish guidelines for continuous monitoring and reporting on resource usage and sustainability performance.

Resource Management Guidelines:
Auto Scaling and On-Demand Provisioning: Use AWS Auto Scaling for EC2 instances, containers, and other services to automatically adjust capacity based on real-time demand, reducing unnecessary resource usage.
Right-Sizing and Reducing Waste: Regularly review instance sizes and utilization using AWS tools like AWS Compute Optimizer to identify opportunities to downsize or shut down unused resources.
